The Sequoias-San Francisco Activates [m]
Power Brain Fitness System

Helps Combat Memory Loss, Dementia & Alzheimer’s Disease

SAN FRANCISCO, CA November 1, 2008 – the Sequoias-San Francisco, an Accredited Life Care Community committed to providing for the needs and quality of life of people 65 and older, has incorporated the [m] Power brain fitness system from Dakim, inc. as part of our wellness program. The fully automated program supplies a constantly changing menu of challenging activities, scientifically designed, to maintain brain health while combating the onset and effects of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

“At The Sequoias, we do everything we can to maximize our residents’ quality of life, and part of that involves providing mental stimulation to keep brains agile,” said Adi Tzur, Director of Activities. “[m] Power combines decades of brain health research designed to prevent or delay memory loss with enjoyable activities that encourage our residents’ consistent use which is necessary for maximum benefit. We believe it will make a big difference in keeping our residents happy, productive and mentally fit.” In fact, one 21-year study published in the New England Journal of Medicine linked a 63% decreased risk of dementia to frequent participation in stimulating mental activities.

Recognizing users individually, the program self-adjusts for ability levels ranging from active seniors to early-stage Alzheimer’s patients. Content is updated automatically every 24 hours giving positive verbal feedback, even with a wrong answer, to build self-esteem. “It may feel like a game, but it’s really a rigorous workout for your brain,” concludes Dan Michel, Dakim founder and CEO.
